Our first sunset! And first sunburn...

Hola! Today was our favorite day so far. We took hundreds of pictures and it's gonna be hard to choose which ones to post, especially since only aunt Becky commented on whether our focus should be plants or animals! Maybe our interactive blog wasnt such a good idea after all?...

Right now Kirby's making dinner and I'm trying to write this blog but the new Angelina Jolie movie Salt is on so its of course incredibly distracting. Actually I havent written anything for the past hour. This movie is pretty good so for any of you who haven't seen it yet I recommend it. Still havent seen the ending yet though. I'll keep you guys posted.

Wow. That movie rocked. And by the time it was over we barely had time for my birthday cake (made by Kirby and Alex, one of the owners of this hostel and our new best friend) then we went out salsa dancing. It was really fun but we both need to work on our salsa! Now we're back, about to finally eat those rice and beans (the beans took much longer than we realized) and then go to bed. We'll write more tomorrow and put up more pics. And we have a very exciting new interactive blog idea!!  We'll just keep you in suspense for now... OK goodnight everyone.

Oh, also, it's obvious from this picture, but we finally saw monkeys!!! And baby monkeys!!! And a sunset!!! No sloth yet, but we're kind of glad about that because it gives us something to look forward to on future walks through the jungle. This town is really great and the views are amazing. We're sad that we can't stay here longer but we will definitely be back! Luckily were staying here tomorrow night and it's ladies night at one of the little salsa bars, so that fits in nicely with our budget. It doesn't get any cheaper than free!!! And the music is a nice mix of reggae and hip hop, so they say, so we won't be embarrassing ourselves quite as badly out on the dance floor. We might freak some people out, though. Any of you who have danced with me know what I'm talking about. Make some space, people! I'm jumpy!

  1. Hey Girls - Just a quick note. I'm SO sorry I haven't had the time or energy to post more comments lately, but I've been working a lot more and running some important errands (more about that in a personal note later)... so I've been totally exhausted the past few days. I HAVE read all of your blog entries each night though, AND I've been reading all your blog entries and FaceBook comments & status updates to mom as well. I JUST today notice all the awesome photos you've posted on fb too, so I might try to print some of those out too.

As for the 'Interactive Blogging', I think that's an awesome idea, no matter which way you go with it. I will try to be more of an active commenter too. I agree with some of the other posts, I mostly like the pics of you guys in the strange & beautiful places you visit. If I HAD to choose plants or animals though, the kids and I would MUCH rather see animals than the plants. Is there a limit to how many pics you can post here? If so, maybe at some point you can just upload the masses to the fb album or photobucket.com or something like that for those who really want to see ALL of them.

Kirby - Mom will be in and out tomorrow as she's getting ready for Uncle Richard & Patty to visit (they'll be there at around 2). She said she'd REALLY love to hear from you, so I told her you'd said you'd try to call for her birthday tomorrow. She said to call in the morning or late morning if possible, to be sure to catch her home. ; )

KATIE & KIRBY- Continue to enjoy your amazing trip to the fullest, keep blogging when possible, be safe, and take care of each other for us. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!! XOXOXOXO ~Ki (Alsatia, Jade, & Avalon)
