Look at his tail!!! |
Hello everyone! We’re here at the hostel together trying to get this blog out tonight before we go dancing. Like we mentioned in our last blog, it’s ladies night tonight!! Woot woot!!
Thank you to everyone who responded to our first interactive blog question. We know it wasnt the most interesting question, but as you know we love to take lots of pictures and we thought it would be a good idea to know what you all want to look at! We're really excited to share all the beautiful sights of Costa Rica with you. The majority of you chose “animal” photos, so here are some of our top picks! We included the fungus because it is technically an animal as well, feeding on detritus, AKA dead stuff, on the jungle floor. And its a super awesome pink color!
Fungus! |
For our next interactive blog, we have a little Costa Rican mystery for you all! Here are our faces, making strange expressions as you can see. Your mission is to guess where we are and what emotion we are conveying through our facial expressions. After we get a few responses we will post the full picture that these pictures came from and you can see how close you were to what was really going on!!! Please be creative and detailed in your responses. So many possibilities!!!
OK gotta go get ready to shake our groove thang! Hope you’re all having a good evening and we look forward to seeing what you think is going on in this photo!!! Tomorrow we leave for the sustainable organic farm where we will have our own little cabin and our friend David acting as our tour guide to waterfalls, beaches, and coconut harvesting. Soon we’ll send out a blog with some real info as to what we’ve been doing! Thanks in advance for guessing what our faces are saying. We can’t wait to hear what you think!
Ok I got this--
ReplyDeleteKatie is definitely seeing something really cool and is about to go "Heh... that's sweet"
Kirby could be doing a number of things right now.. But I would say probably scared/nervous, perhaps high up somewhere??
It looks to me like you're both under a tent or vail of somekind... so as to WHERE you are, that's HARD to say or guess. Maybe it's a tent with some cool plants of animals in it??? LOL!
ReplyDeleteAs for the faces, I do agree slightly with Stephan above... that the faces differ a bit.
Katie looks like shes seeing something that makes her a little curious and a little excited at the same time. Stephans idea that she's seeing something sweet or cute could fit too. IDK?
Kirby looks like she's a little shocked or surprised and a little discussted. LOL! It kind of looks like she just SMELLED something icky. LOL! It looks like an "Eewww" face.
Can't wait to find out what was really going on in these pics. heehee
XOXOXO ~Ki
Katie's like "Woooow! Look at that furry leopard fungus! Sweeeeeet!" and Kirby's screaming "Hey! That f-ing monkey just stole my pretzels!"
ReplyDeleteKatie's saying "Dude, it's all wet...!" and Kirby's saying "Ya! Why the hell did you make us come during the rainy season?!!!"
ReplyDeleteokay...we do not know Katie so well but her expression conveys a relaxed, calm and happy moment as though she is walking into a spa... but unlikely in jungles of costa rica so we are guessing she just hiked to the top of a mountain and saying to Kirby "I need a nap".
ReplyDeleteAs for Kirby's expression, we have seen that face many times before.
"Spencer...GET OUT OF MY ROOM AND RESPECT MY PRIVACY!"
"Matthew...KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF AND GET OFF MY BACK!"
"Claire...YOU NEED TO PICK UP ALL OF THOSE FUSE BEADS THAT YOU DUMPED OUT ON THE FLOOR!"
But since we know that none of the Paul kids are anywhere close to her we can only guess that she is babysitting for a local costa rican family and chastizing the kids for putting spiders in her sneakers.
Actually, all three of my kids looked at the photo and thought Kirby was making a HUGE poop in the jungle.
Have FUN!!! We miss you!

Our adventurers have just come upon Roberto's Rotisserie stand on the side of the road. Feral dogs loiter in the vicinity, hoping for scraps.
ReplyDeleteRoberto serves authentic Central American shish kebobs. Some of the items on the skewers are recognizable, like lizard tails and pig snouts. Others are not. Like the purple blobs, that might be bat livers, or maybe rooster testicles. And there are long skinny yellow things, that might be lizard innards, or maybe Costa Rican earthworms.
Roberto snaps a picture as our heroes contemplate their options for a lunchtime repast.
Katie says "Uhhh, yeah, sure, I can handle this. It's time for some new cultural experiences. And these kabobs are 40 colonies cheaper than the tacos we had yesterday. Just give me a minute to get my appetite back."
Kirby says "OMG Katie, I can't believe you're thinking about eating that. Looks like Montezuma's-revenge-on-a-stick to me. Rusty wouldn't even eat that. If you do then stay away from me, cuz I don't want you blowing lizard chunks on my new dress."
I have NO IDEA how I missed this post before, but my guess is that you two saw something (I'm going to go with spider or snake?? or creepy creepy vine that you brushed up against and thought it was alive?) that Katie finds fascinating and Kirby finds....less fascinating, more strange. or something. Or maybe your bags just fell in a puddle and Katie is all "hey, that's life!" and Kirby is like "maaaaannnnnn why'd they have to fall on the side where my sneakers are??!"
ReplyDeleteThank you very very very much for writing about rice and beans, I feel like I am right there with you, also eating rice and beans. Actually, Dan and I made some in YOUR honor on Saturday and they were very very tasty.
Also, I met that iguana. Actually, probably not him, exactly, but another iguana who lost a fight and most of his tail. We thought his tail (the unscaly part) looked EXACTLY like cable cords.
AHHHH I MISS YOU LADIES and I want to come and surprise you on your path! Thanks for updating so often, I feel like I'm out there with you too! xooooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoox
On the beach in Manuel Antonio...
ReplyDeleteKatie sees the little monkeys fumbling with each other's winnies, "look, it's so cute, they are helping each other stay clean!" Kirbie, a few seconds later, has now a monkey pulling her bathing suit bottoms, wanting to help her stay clean too...
I told you guys not to feed the monkeys!
I think you're in the jungle, under a clear poncho in the rain. Kirby looks angry or maybe yelling at some critter (which she wouldn't normally do), and Katie is like "you need to chill out, everything's cool".
