Off to the Pacuare Reserve!

Yesterday was a busy day full of bus trips and lots of walking and some shopping in order to prepare for our adventure over to the Pacuare Reserve. We are very excited to get going and to be giving back to this beautiful country that we have fallen in love with so much! We are riddled with bug bites but are stoked to try out our new rain boots! We both feel that our mothers would be proud at our purchases to protect our feet not only from the elements but also from the bugs! We won't have any electricity for the next week so obviously no internet will be available so prepare yourself for a HUGE blog blast once we get back to civilization! Thank you so much to all of you that are reading and commenting, we are really enjoying your feed back and love that you are getting the up to the minute status even though we are in Central America! We love you all! Take care and we will talk to you soon! xo

P.S. Don't worry, we know you wouldn't be able to stand the suspense any longer, so here it is!!!! The mystery picture revealed! After all your creative comments, the actual photo is a bit anti-climatic, but I guess that was kind of the point.
We're thinking: Hurry, take a good picture before the next big wave comes and takes us by surprise again! Don't let these calm-looking waters fool you, we risked our lives for this picture! ;)

  1. Hello Katie & Kirby. I just now got the link to your adventure blog. Good job!! It takes me back a few years when Cheryl and I were in the jungle riding horses and getting ready to go on the zip lines. I was on a rope swing and slipped down the rope, it wrapped around my fingers and I dislocated 3 knuckles and broke 2 fingers. When I took my translator to the hospital she passed out. What an adventure that was. Be careful but don’t stop enjoying life. I look forward to following your adventure. Can you add me to your list? tm@smitgroupusa.com Thanks Tim Murphy

  2. Sorry to hear you have so many bug bites, you girls are too sweet:) Your Mother and I rafted down the Pacuare River, it was awesome. Saw many beautiful birds and monkeys, and the water was warm! Looking forward to reading about your stay at the reserve and the pics. Maybe you could show a map of Costa Rica, and highlight the towns and places you have visited. Love, Dad

  4. Hi girls
I feel like such a dork, I've been checking the blog often and was wondering when you girls were gonna write something, I JUST noticed all the blog entries were over there on the right! Haha it was hard to see on my iPhone screen!! :). So anyways I've had a lot of catching up to do, but it's given me some really good reading material for these late night feedings with Troy (explains why I'm posting this at 2am :). I'm loving this blog! AND especially loving all the photos! Looks like soo much fun, I can't believe all the cool things you've done far, and without even planning it! Can't wait to read about your next adventure, this makes me feel like I'm experiencing it all with you ( minus the bug bits thank goodness :). ~Meghan

  5. You two are so adorable! Are the bugs a year round thing, or is this seasonal? I know that sounds kind of stupid, but you know how mosqitoes are pretty much only a summer thing up here. Also, have you seen many snakes? I absolutely love all the pictures that you are taking. You both seem to have real talent with the camera.
Love you & stay safe- Aunt Tracy
