The Emerald Princess isn't much bigger than a pea! |
Here they are, finally! The actual moth measurements! Now that we have a home, we have time to focus on the important things, like blogging about moths! Asking you to rank them in order of size was kind of a trick question because as you can see these guys are all incredibly tiny. That was one of our favorite things about the moths - the amount of intricate detail in each and every one, from the big ones that could be mistaken for birds to these super mini's. I put my pinkie finger in all the shots to give a sense of scale, and look how huge it looks!

Mr. Moleface was so small we needed the macro zoom just to see his little moleface! |

White stealth got lucky enough to get his close-up with Kirby! |

The teeny tiny Teddy Bear Warrior! |
|
The Yellow Fringe-Bottomed moth had the tiniest fringe you've ever seen! |

The Brown eyed pig's snout almost escaped our notice because it was so small |

Mr. Smith has some really cool antennae, but you might have to get an inch from the screen to see them |

Hi Ladies -
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly enjoying following this blog - it's the next best thing to being there myself. Sounds like the turtle preserve place was rather spartan, based on the reaction when you moved into the house!
Now that your clothes are clean, the moths have been cataloged, and you have refamiliarized yourselves with the concept of ice, when are we going to see some photos taken from the TOP OF THE VOLCANO???!!! You rugged flexible ladies can probably hike up there by lunchtime. I wanna see some "Yoga in the Caldera" pics! Do you have decent hiking shoes?
Take Care-
Uncle Rich
AND....we're back to Moths!!! I agree with Uncle Rich on this one- it's time to move on from the moths to bigger and better things - like what's happening in Casa los Suenios!!!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed how small all of the moths are, especially the Magical Emperor, but they sure pack a lot of color in a small package. Have you taken any pictures of fireflies? Take care.
ReplyDeleteLove, Dad
I like bugs (especially the kinds that don't bite me and make me itchy), and i am a big fan of furry things. Please please don't ever take pictures of worms. Snakes are ok. NO WORMS. I remember Costa Rican mosquitoes were VICIOUS. So, um, photograph those if you want, but try to avoid 'em (duh, like you need me to tell you that).
ReplyDeleteIn other Fascinating News from Claire's brain, I am totally digging the interactive aspects. It's like Ranger Rick. or Rangers Kirby and Katie (dude, Katie, aren't you, like, a real ranger?), or Highlights for young adults and actual adults, or some other awesome magazine that feels like a friend cause it invites you to play games. I love it.
Also, that is TOTALLY Katie's ladylike pinky fingernail, right? right?
