And so we begin...

As many of you know Katie and I have been best friends for over 11 years now. While Katie and I have already shared many amazing adventures, living abroad is something that Katie and I have long dreamed of and spent many hours talking about. However, life took over for several years and our traveling dreams had to be put on the back burner. Earlier this year, Katie came to me with her mind made up that she was going with or without me and so it was decided then and there that the adventures of Katie and Kirby would be beginning a new chapter and this time in Costa Rica! It has been a long time coming and lots of planning but the day is finally upon us and we couldn't be more excited!

Katie and I arrive into San Jose separately because we were each gifted frequent flyer miles (Katie from her parents for Christmas, mine from The Pauls for my birthday - by far the best gift either of us has received in a very long time, we feel very lucky to have such loving and generous people in our lives). I have already taken my last look at Katie in our home town and now the next time I see her we will be on Costa Rica soil! We have been busy planning many fun sights to see and are looking forward to sharing everything with you on our new blog! We are staying at a cool looking hostel in San Jose the first night and have several others lined up as our trip progresses. We are mostly going with what we have been calling "The no-plan plan".  As its name implies this plan involves very little planning ahead but instead searching for and seizing opportunities once we arrive. Our goal is to not only secure jobs but also find a place to live once we have traveled around a bit and seen some of the beautiful country that is Costa Rica. So stay tuned because this is just the beginning!
